Rules
Let’s explore each rule and its configuration in detail.
SKU Title
The SKU Title rule allows you to directly use the existing SKU Title from the source catalog when generating the SKU Title in the target catalog. This is useful in scenarios where the original title is already well-structured or approved, and you want to retain or slightly modify it without rebuilding it from individual attribute or other rules.
This rule includes two fields as shown in the image below:

Content- Displays the name of the source catalog.
Transformation Choice
Choose one of the following options:Use the SKU Title as is – Applies the title from the source catalog without any changes.
Perform String Operation(s) – Allows you to modify the source SKU Title using string operations like Add, Replace, Convert Case, etc.
Now if you have selected Perform string operation(s) option, you will see a dialog box with link to start adding the string operation as shown below:

Click the link to open the list of supported string operations. These operations allow you to manipulate the selected or existing SKU Title before including it in the SKU Title.
After selecting the operator in this case let’s say you have selected Find & Replace operator.
Source SKU Title-> Nike Running Shoes - Black - Size 9
Goal: Replace "Black" with "Dark Grey".
In the Find & Replace configuration,
Method-> Choose how the system will identify the text to be replaced:
Delimiter based – Locate and replace text based on its position relative to a specific delimiter (e.g., hyphen “-“or pipe “|”).
Position based – Target a specific part of the string using character positions.
String pattern based – Match and replace text based on specific characters or patterns (recommended for direct text substitution like our example).
Selected Method: String pattern based.
Replace: Black
With: Dark Grey.
Expected Output:
Nike Running Shoes - Dark Grey - Size 9
Click
to save the rule.Click Generate Preview to see how the SKU Title will appear based on your current rule configuration.
You should now be able to see the following output:
Nike Running Shoes - Dark Grey - Size 9
After reviewing the configured rule, click Close Preview.
If no further changes, click Save Changes to apply the rule.
Attribute Rule
The Attribute rule allows you to build SKU Titles dynamically by pulling values from specific product attributes in the source catalog—such as Color, Size, Brand, or any other defined attribute.
This rule helps you automatically include key product details in the SKU Title, so you don't have to create each title manually.
Steps to configure Attribute rule:
Select the Attribute option from the list of available rule types.
A dialog box titled Attribute gets displayed as shown below:

Click on the link “Click here to select an attribute”. A list of available attributes will be displayed on the right side.

Choose the desired attribute from the list and click Done.
The selected attribute will now appear in the dialog, as shown in the example below.

In the Content field, select one of the following options:
Use Attribute Value Only – Uses just the value of the selected attribute.
Use Attribute Value with UoM – Includes the attribute value along with its unit of measure (if applicable).
In the Transformation Choice field, select one of the following options:
Use attribute value content as it is – Applies the selected attribute content directly to the SKU Title without any modifications or formatting.
Perform string operation(s) - Allows you to apply one or more string operations to the attribute content. This option enables further customization of how the attribute value appears in the SKU Title.
Now if you have selected Perform string operation(s) option, you will see a dialog box with link to start adding the string operation as shown below:

Click the link to open the list of supported string operations. These operations allow you to manipulate the selected attribute value before including it in the SKU Title.
The following operations are available:
Extract String – Pulls a specific part of the attribute value based on position or pattern.
Add String – Adds a fixed string (prefix/suffix) to the value.
Remove String – Deletes specific characters or substrings.
Find & Replace – Replaces one part of the value with another.
Convert Case – Changes text to uppercase, lowercase, or title case.
Thousand Separator – Formats numeric values with appropriate separators.
Handle Negative Values – Defines how negative numbers are treated in the title.
For more information on these operators, please refer to section String Operations.
After selecting the operator, a dialog box titled the selected <operator name> is displayed as shown in the screenshot below:

For example, let’s configure the Add String operation. When you choose Add String, the following configuration fields will be displayed:
String to be Added
Enter the text string to insert into the attribute value.
Method→ Choose how the string should be inserted:
Delimiter-based
Position-based
If Delimiter-based is selected:
Delimiter – Select a predefined delimiter (e.g., space, comma) or enter a custom one (e.g., . .).
Logic – Choose left of delimiter or right of delimiter to define which side of the delimiter the string will be added.
At occurrence count – Specifies which occurrence of the delimiter to consider (e.g., 2 = second instance).
Direction – Choose whether to count delimiter occurrences left to right or right to left.
If Position-based is selected:
Add string from position – Enter the position (integer) where the new string should be inserted.
Direction – Choose left to right or right to left to define how position is calculated.
For example:
You want to configure an Attribute Rule with the Add String operation.
Scenario:
You are configuring an Attribute Rule for the Brand attribute.
The attribute value for the product is: Nike
You want to add the prefix "Brand: " to the brand value.
The configuration steps would be as follows:
Select the Attribute rule type.
Choose the Brand attribute from the list.
In the Content field, select Use Attribute Value Only.
In the Transformation Choice field, select Perform String Operation(s).
From the list of string operations, select Add String.
In the Add String configuration:
String to be added: Brand
Method: Position based
Add string from position: 1
Direction: Left to Right
Output:
The attribute value "Nike" is transformed to: Brand: Nike
Click
to save the rule.Once the rule is saved it is displayed as highlighted in the image below:

You can add multiple operations within a rule by saving each one before adding the next. You need to save the first operation to add the second operation.
On the left, you can see all the applied rules. By clicking on the
you can drag to reorder the rules.

Click Generate Preview to see how the SKU Title will appear based on your current rule configuration.
After reviewing the configured rule, click Save Changes if no further updates are needed.
Taxonomy Node Rule
The Taxonomy Node Name rule allows you to include the product’s category or classification—based on the taxonomy hierarchy—directly in the SKU Title.
This rule is useful when you want the SKU Title to reflect the product’s placement within the catalog’s structure. It helps improve product organization, search relevance, and discoverability on e-commerce platforms or internal systems.
Steps to configure Taxonomy Node Name rule:
Select the Taxonomy Node Name option from the list of available rule types.
A dialog box titled Taxonomy Node Name gets displayed as shown below:

In the Content field, select one of the following options:
Taxonomy name of source catalog – Displays the node name from the source catalog’s taxonomy hierarchy.
Taxonomy name of target catalog – Displays the node name from the target catalog’s taxonomy hierarchy.
In the Transformation Choice field, select one of the following options:
Use Taxonomy name as it is- Inserts the selected taxonomy node name into the SKU Title without any modifications or formatting.
Perform String Operation(s)- Allows you to apply string transformations (e.g., add a string as prefix/suffix, extract string) to customize how the taxonomy name appears in the SKU Title.
Repeat steps 7-13 from Attribute Rule section.
Item ID
The Item ID rule allows you to include the unique Item ID (SKU ID) of a product from the source catalog directly into the SKU Title of the target catalog.
This rule is especially useful when you want to maintain traceability between source and target SKUs, or when the customers require the SKU Title to include a reference to the original identifier.

When the Item ID rule is selected there is only one field that shows up which is Transformation Choice:
Use Item ID as it is- Inserts the selected Item ID into the SKU Title without any modifications or formatting.
Perform String Operation(s)- Allows you to apply string transformations (e.g., add a string as prefix/suffix, extract string) to customize how the Item ID appears in the SKU Title.
For example, if the Item ID for a product is SKU12345, and you apply this rule, the SKU Title could become:
SKU12345 | Nike Running Shoes | Size 9
Here you can optionally apply string operations for formatting.
If you happen to select add a string to the above title the output would look like:
ID: SKU12345 | Nike Running Shoes | Size 9
Here, ID: has been added to the Item ID using a string operation, helping to clearly identify the value as an identifier in the title.
Constant String
The Constant String rule allows you to insert a fixed string into the SKU Title, regardless of product attributes or data from the source catalog.
This rule is useful when you want to include consistent wording across multiple SKU Titles, such as branding terms, labels like “New Arrival” or “Limited Edition,” or formatting separators.
When configuring the Constant String rule, only one field is displayed: "String to be added." This is where you enter the fixed text that will be appended to the SKU Title.

For example, if you enter the string "Limited Edition" and apply this rule on the existing SKU Title, the resulting output is:
Nike’s Jordan | Size 9 | Limited Edition
