Classifying SKUs

Prev Next

If the SKUs are created manually, we select the Node and add it accordingly whereas if the SKUs are imported, they are imported to a node directly. In both cases, if a SKU needs to be placed in a different node, we can change the placement of the SKU to a different node. This can be done by moving a SKU from one node to another.

Moving SKUs from One Node to Another

You can move SKUs present in one node to another node in the Taxonomy tree. This helps to assign SKUs to correct nodes if they have been placed incorrectly in a node.

To move SKUs from one node to another:

  1. Select the node which has the SKU to be moved and then select the SKU.

  2. Select the Move SKUs  icon as shown below.

For example, let us move a SKU with SKU ID Ana9632 from the Watches node. It needs to be part of the Analog node.

NOTE

You can move multiple SKUs from a single node or multiple nodes, if required.

If you select multiple nodes, all SKUs present in the nodes selected are displayed. For example, if we select nodes Watches and Analog, all SKUs will be displayed as shown below.

NOTE

Since we have selected two nodes, the SKUs are indicated in 2 different colors representing two nodes. This easily helps to identify the nodes to which these SKUs belong.

Select the node to place the moved SKU. The destination node selected is displayed at the end of the screen as shown below.

Click Move and the SKU is moved successfully to the selected node.

However, it is quite possible that the SKU which is moved to another node might have validation failure error if the SKU does not comply with the Schema constraint rules defined in the destination node. Rectify the errors and update the SKUs with relevant information.

NOTE

If a SKU being moved has any Attribute which is locked as explained in section Locking Attribute Values for a SKU, a warning message is displayed stating that the lock will be removed once the SKU is moved as shown below.

However, if the review mode is turned on for user action Review user actions of classifying a SKU within or to a hierarchy while adding/editing a hierarchy, you cannot move the SKUs directly as it will be assigned to a reviewer. In this case, while moving a SKU from one node to another, a message is displayed as follows.

Also, the SKU is not moved and an orange icon is now displayed next to the SKU which indicates that approval to move the SKU to another node is pending as shown below.

NOTE

You cannot perform any action on this SKU as it is Under Review till it reaches a terminal review status. Thus, you cannot edit / delete / move / mirror this SKU to another non-primary hierarchy / attach/ detach the SKU till the review process is complete.

However, for the same SKU, you can link/delink Digital Assets.

Depending on the action taken by the reviewer, the value will be approved/rejected /aborted as explained in section Reviewing the User Actions Assigned.
