In PCC, you can specify the location from where to pick up the file in the client’s personal space. It is observed that users generally have a FTP or some file-share location where they drop data files to be picked up for consumption by another system. Similarly, they expect the external system to be able to drop an output file into a location of their choice. Such configurations can be set using External File Location. All the configurations for each location type can be set here and can be used at the time of Import/Export when user selects ‘Is Perpetual Import’ as Yes.
You can set up both import and export set up details under one configuration.
To create and work on External File Location, hover the mouse on the menu panel on the upper-left corner of the screen and then click Admin > External File Location.

On clicking External File Location, the following page is displayed:

On this page, you can add an external file location, search for an external file location, view the added External File Location, and perform actions like edit and delete the already created External File Location.
To add the External File Location:
Click Add External File Location button on the top right corner of the page.

Enter the External File Location Name.
Select the value from the External File Location Type dropdown. By default, FTP is selected. The values could be either FTP or SFTP.
Enter the FTP or SFTP URL/IP Address. If you select FTP, port number 21 is displayed automatically, whereas if SFTP is selected, port number 22 is displayed.
Enter the username and password. Click Connect. The connection will be established and below message is displayed.

Click Continue present on the Connection Successful message. This will open up the Export and Import setup toggle.

To export the file to a specific location, toggle on Export Setup. Enter the path of the folder where you want to export and click Test Export Setup.

To import the file to a specific location, toggle on Import Setup. Enter the path of the folder where you want to import. Three fates can be performed on the Imported file - Delete, Rename, and Move.

If you select Delete, the file will be deleted on completion of the process. This is to ensure you have the right permission to delete the file. If this action fails due to a system error or inadequate permissions, you will need to be notified of the exact error. After selecting the fate, click the Test Import Setup button. On successful deletion, the following message is displayed.

If you select Rename, enter a name to the import file that needs to be renamed after the import completes. The PCC system will rename the import file by appending the unique import id to the file name and the input value. If this action fails due to a system error or inadequate permissions, the user will need to be notified of the exact error. After selecting the fate, click the Test Import Setup button. On successful rename, the following message is displayed.

If you select Move, you need to first create a folder beforehand in the home directory, which will move the import file into the created folder. If this action fails due to a system error or inadequate permissions, the user will need to be notified of the exact error. After selecting the fate, click the Test Import Setup button. On successful moving of the file, the following message is displayed.

Save the entire external file location by clicking Save External File Location.
